Summer Music Workshops

The Summer Music Workshops offer local, regional, and visiting student musicians an opportunity to participate in technique classes and ensemble coaching sessions led by SVSS musicians and music educators from around the U.S. Our instructors are highly skilled professionals with a keen interest in sharing their gifts with young musicians. The Workshops include technique classes, chamber music coaching, sectionals, ensemble rehearsals and music appreciation classes. Workshops are open to Elementary, Middle School and High School music students (including those graduation in 2008).

School of Music

The SVSS School of Music provides quality music education and performance opportunities in a nurturing and stimulating environment to area students in grades six through twelve who show a high aptitude for music learning and performance. Students are selected for the School of Music through audition and must have at least one year of prior training in their music discipline. By offering this innovative program, the SVSS hopes to further the intellectual and personal growth of its students through music, thus enriching the community as a whole.

Adult Education

The Adult Education Lecture Series again features Maestro Aladsair Neale. Music lovers are invited to attend two lectures on pieces to be performed during the SVSS 2008 season. The lectures will be held Wednesda,y April 9 and Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 6:30pm in Salon C of the Limelight Room in the Sun Valley Resort Inn. The lecture topic is to be determined.

Music Teacher Symposium

The Music Teacher Symposiums are made possible through a generous donation from Richard and Judy Smooke. This workshop is dedicated to wider understanding of the teaching of physical and mental processes of music techniques for young music students. The 2008 course will focus on vocal music instruction. The symposium runs in conjunction with the Sun Valley Summer Music Workshops. Application Deadline: May 10, 2008
